We believe, of primary concern to the people, is that they want air that is safe to breath and water that is safe to drink.  Without clean air and water, the benefits of technology in satisfying our various interests become moot.  After all, what good is technology if the end result is sickness and death.  On the other hand, it is naive to think that a certain amount of pollutants or adverse problems won’t occur as the human species attempts to advance itself.  But, what is necessary is to understand the tradeoffs, consequences, risks, and benefits, under the guidance of well-defined and tolerable limits, associated with our advancement.  Mutual respect for everyone’s interests must be weighed and accommodated.

It is a proper function of government to monitor, regulate, and reasonably control technologies, accounting for the many considerations, to ensure the safety and prosperity of the community.  Each level of government is responsible to its respective citizens.  These governments have a duty to work together, exercising such powers and authorities that have been delegated to them by the people.  Since these matters are predominantly of local concern, the States should be principally involved in their regulation.

Because most significant advancements in technology derive from corporate enterprises (not to exclude other forms of business entities), their respective governing authorities (in most cases, the States) should establish reasonable controls upon such enterprises to protect public health and safety, the environment, our natural resources, and other considerations.  Emphasis should be placed on the use of recyclable or reusable materials and containers, and to ensure that disposable materials be biodegradable when exposed to the natural elements.  Programs that balance economic with environmental considerations should be implemented which satisfy both needs.

We do not believe that all by-products will be reusable, but we do expect that proper methods be implemented to protect our air and water from unnecessary or inadvertent or accidental contamination.  If this requires the development of new waste disposal technologies, then such technologies should be enthusiastically pursued.  For example, processes such as Thermal De-Polymerization of trash renders all its toxins and poisons inert while producing fuel, oxygen, and water.

Of additional concern are additives, such as lime and fluoride to our drinking water.  Lime is use to adjust the pH of the water close to 7.0.  Though this renders the water neutral with respect to a health person’s natural pH levels, the principle reason is to control the acidic level of the water to prevent corrosion in community water lines.  However, lime molecules attach to the water molecules, forming super-sized molecule clusters that cannot be easily absorbed by a person’s body tissues.  Additionally, the four essential minerals found in natural water (calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium) and used in the body’s digestion process are removed.

In the case of fluoride, the public has been sold on the idea that this very potent poison is beneficial for fighting tooth decay.  However, the reality is that fluoride affects people’s vitality and emotions.  This was demonstrated during WWII when the Germans used fluoride in prisoners’ water supply to make them docile and passive.  Recent studies have revealed that the potential risks from drinking fluoridated water outweighs any perceived benefits.  Continued use of fluoride in water is now considered an outdated health policy.  For more information on fluoride, see http://www.slweb.org/limeback.html.
